Here could be your problem and some solutions. Do you keep nuts in your house? What I mean are cashews, brazil etc. A beast like that will chew its self through a wooden door to get to that smell.These little badger wanna bes hide nut all winter and find nearly 99% from sense of smell, so dont bet one in a smelling contest.
Hot peppers! They hate hot pepper powder so spread it around where you dont want the little bastards and then moth ball are good, but they are hard to catch and to extract. Good luck...JW OH! Paint ball, they hate being painted, abstract expressionist pallets aint what they are into, but that doesnt mean this has to stop you...
